Tuesday 6 May - Goffs is proud to announce Fitzwilliam Sports, a Dublin-based independent bookmaker making their first foray into UK sponsorship, as a new title partner of the 2025 Goffs London Sale. They will join returning title partner Privat 3 Money, a pioneer in premium digital finance, for this year’s event. Each June, thoroughbred owners, international investors, and influential figures from across horse racing gather in the private gardens of Kensington Palace for a sale like no other. The 2025 Goffs London Sale will take place on Monday 16 June, on the eve of Royal Ascot. It remains the only auction in the world where buyers can purchase a horse declared to run at the Royal Meeting just 24 hours later, combining the exclusivity of a private garden party with the thrill of elite sport. Founded in 2021, Fitzwilliam Sports has quickly earned a reputation as “an old-fashioned bookmaker in the modern world,” committed to restoring confidence in betting through traditional values: fair prices, decent bets, and direct, knowledgeable staff. Their partnership with Goffs marks their first official UK sponsorship. “Fitzwilliam Sports speak our language when it comes to tailored service, discretion and a high-touch client experience - all values that mirror the ethos of the London Sale,” said Goffs Group Chief Executive, Henry Beeby. One of the principals behind Fitzwilliam Sports and prominent Irish owner, Paul Byrne said: "Fitzwilliam Sports are delighted to partner with Goffs as the new sponsor of their London Sale. There’s a distinct crossover between our clients and attendees of the London sale and we look forward to entertaining many familiar faces on the evening while also making some new acquaintances."

Hamilton Park preview

HAMILTON PARK review By Gordon Brown Jim Goldie has some lofty targets in mind for Faylaq after the 11/4 second favourite made all to score at Hamilton Park. Ridden by Paul Mulrennan, the nine-year-old saw off Kitteridge by three-quarters of a length in the £30,000 Hampton By Hilton Onsite Hotel Buttonhook Handicap. “He was second in this race two years ago and we might come back for the Braveheart Handicap in to weeks time,” Goldie said. “He’s very versatile trip-wise so later on the Ebor could be be on the agenda and Paul said the Cesarewitch could be another possibility.” The future also looks bright for Roger Varian-trained Sallaal after his taking performance in the £40,000 Darley Stallions EBF Novice Stakes under Ray Dawson. Sent off as the 1/3 favourite, the Newmarket raider beat Arctic Grey by three lengths and looks a lovely prospect for his connections. “He’s still to grow physically in the front end but going forward he a horse to really look forward to,” Dawson said. “We’ve always liked him at home and he works very well. I’m not sure where he will end up this season but he could be a tremendous horse as a four-year-old when he fully matures.” For more information contact Gordon Brown on 07850 258063 for Scottish Racing.

Ayr preview

AYR Thursday preview By Gordon Brown Glasses Up bids to continue a remarkable recent run for his trainer Mike Smith under top-weight in the Luxury Breaks At Western House Hotel Handicap at Ayr. Three days ago the Galston raider became the track’s modern-day record-holder when posting a ninth win at his local venue while Smith scooped a E100,000 handicap hurdle almost exactly 24 hours later courtesy of 50/1 chance Buy Some Time on the opening card of the Punchestown festival. Glasses Up shoulders 9st 11lb, which includes a 4lb penalty for his gallant strike over 1m 5f on Monday and all bar two of his Ayr victories have been achieved over tonight’s trip of 1m 2f. Smith tries to land the Book Day Dancing At Ayr Racecourse for the second-year-running with Ski Angel while his Zebra Star, a winner at this meeting twelve months ago over seven-furlongs, attempts to take the Events At Western House Hotel over a mile. The evening gets underway with the Weddings At Western House Hotel Maiden Stakes over six-furlongs. Best form appears to have shown by Jedd O’Keeffe-trained Dan Tucker, who has been runner-up in three of his five starts including when narrowly beaten into second place at Nottingham on his seasonal return three weeks ago. For more information contact Gordon Brown on 07850 258063 for Scottish Racing.
