Notice of two Appeals (L. Steward, M & C. Johnston) to be heard by the Disciplinary Panel on Thursday 23 June 22/06/2022 @ 12:00:00

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority will convene on Thursday 23 June 2022 to hear the following:

9.30 am - Louis Steward

An Appeal brought by Louis Steward the rider of TOMOUGH (IRE) against the decision of the Stewards at Chelmsford on 28 May 2022 to reverse the placings following the Ministry of Sound Disco 20th August Handicap Stakes (Class 3). An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, TOMOUH (IRE), ridden by Louis Steward and STATE OCCASION, placed second, ridden by Rossa Ryan. The Stewards considered the interference had improved TOMOUH (IRE)’s placing as the mare had hung right for some distance intimidating STATE OCCASION off it’s intended line to win by a diminishing nose, and revised the placings as follows: First: STATE OCCASION; Second: TOMOUH (IRE). The interference was found to be accidental as TOMOUH (IRE) had drifted right despite the rider’s best efforts.

12.00 noon - Mark & Charlie Johnston

An Appeal brought by Mark Johnston, the trainer of MACKENZIE ROSE (IRE), against the fixed penalty of £500 imposed by the Stewards at Lingfield on 4 June 2022 after the horse was made a non-runner after 9.00 a.m. on the day of racing without an acceptable reason. Notes to Editors: 1. The Panel for the Appeals will be: HH James O'Mahony, Tim Etherington and Rachel Spearing. 2. The Judicial Panel currently operates with hearings being heard via zoom.
