Disciplinary Panel result of a fast-tracked case

07/02/2022 @ 12:00:00

The Judicial Panel Chairman, His Honour Brian Barker CBE QC, has approved the following penalty under the British Horseracing Authority fast-track system: Ludlow Race Club, Managing Executive of Ludlow Racecourse £3,500 fine - A breach of Rule (B)46 of the Rules of Racing, with reference to BHAGI 3.4.

On 10 January 2022 during the running of the first circuit of race 3, The Ludlow Brewery Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 3), a section of the road crossing railing was found to be positioned the incorrect way around.

The incorrectly positioned railing jeopardised the possible safety of the field and caused two riders to manoeuvre left around the railing.

The mistake was amended for the second circuit.

During a Stewards enquiry it was explained that the staff at the road crossing are experienced and have been there for a few years.

Furthermore, the Head Groundsman carried out training at the start of each season and the mistake was simply human error.
