BHA NEWS RACE CARD 11th JUNE FRIDAY YORK RACECOURSE

Published 2021/06/09

7 RACE AFTERNOON FLAT MEETING

Following approval by BHA and successful deployment at Cheltenham and Aintree, York Racecourse will be introducing bridle numbers for all meetings from this weekend.

This is to aid identification of runners when crossing from stables to standside, in case of any loose horses on the Knavesmire and to assist the BHA when there is a requirement to test unplaced horses in large runner fields.

Bridle numbers will be allocated to travelling staff upon arrival at the Stable Yard. Made of Velcro with rounded edges, they will fit behind either the cheekpiece or the throatlash.

In the case of red hoods, they may stay under the hood once the saddle has been put on, as the number cloth will be in place.

Bridle numbers are to remain in place post race when walking back across the Knavesmire until returning to Stableside, where racing staff are requested to put the bridle numbers in the bucket provided by the Stables Office for disinfection.

Many thanks for your assistance.
