The trainer said: “He was really consistent last season winning twice and coming second a couple of times. It was a decent first run back when second at Carlisle and although he likes nice ground he has won on heavy in the past.”

Brian Ellison has made a good start to the autumn and he is represented by recent Sedgefield runner-up Instant Replay while Chris Grant’s two-time Kelso scorer Acdc could be on a tempting mark as he reappears following wind surgery.

Fledging trainer Olly Murphy has already saddled two winners at Kelso and Beau Sancy was one of them when scoring over three miles back in the spring.

The title of the main race came about due to the discovery of a wishing well during the redevelopment of the new parade ring in the summer of 2018.

Believed to be more than 200 years old, it lay hidden before the work began and has subsequently been incorporated into the design of the paddock viewing steps.

Any money tossed into the well is collected for the Injured Jockeys Fund.
