Notice of Disciplinary Panel hearings to be heard on Thursday 13 May

Published 2021/05/12

The independent Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority will convene on Thursday 13 May to hear the following:

9.30 am - James Bowen Fakenham – 4 May 2021 An appeal against the decision of the Stewards who held an enquiry to consider interference entering the bend turning into the back straight on the final circuit when the winner, GAME LINE (IRE), ridden by James Bowen, interfered with BOUGHTBEFORELUNCH (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Jack Savage, which in turn interfered with MERCIAN KNIGHT (IRE), which was later pulled up, ridden by Jack Quinlan.

Bowen was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to shift left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of BOUGHTBEFORELUNCH, which had to be switched off heels and in so doing caused Quinlan to take a check.

12.00 pm - Knockaderry Flyer (IRE) Objection by the BHA, under Regulation 151(iv) of the Point-to-Point Regulations, to KNOCKADERRY FLYER, owned by The Jump On Board Partnership, placed first in the Oriental Club Owner-Trainer Conditions Race at the North Warwickshire Club Point to Point held at Mollington on 10 April 2021, on the grounds that by the conditions of the race the horse was not qualified to start.

KNOCKADERRY FLYER (IRE) failed to meet the conditions of the race because the trainer, Max Comley, had:

1. more than five horses registered in his care at the time of the race; and

2. of the horses registered in his care, more than one was owned (or part-owned) by someone outside of his immediate family. 1.45 pm - Liam Bailey Whether on 19 October 2019 licensed trainer Liam BAILEY breached Rule (J)20 by engaging in violent or improper conduct towards another.
