Musselburgh report
MUSSELBURGH report By Gordon Brown AT the age of ten, Sir Chauvelin was the oldest in the line-up as he won a thrilling renewal of the £25,000 So Stobo Platinum Jubilee Handicap on Musselburgh’s Ladies Day by a short-head from Dark Jedi.
Sent off at 17-2, he was ridden by Paul Mulrennan for the powerful Jim Goldie stable.
Goldie said: “He retains his enthusiasm pretty well and I fancied him quite strongly beforehand. He’s won plenty of times over hurdles here and he has been a tremendous servant for the yard.”
Scottish trainer Linda Perratt struck with a double courtesy of Chinese Spirit and Monhammer.
The former landed the opening Champagne Pommery Rose Magnum by the minimum margin of a nose while the latter was a comfortable scorer of the Mcewan Fraser Handicap.
Arrange, trained in Cumbria by Martin Todhunter, was the most impressive winner of the afternoon as she blitzed home under top-weight by over seven lengths in the concluding Champagne Pommery Cuvee Louise Handicap.
