GO RACING IN YORKSHIRE

YORKSHIRE IS SYNONYMOUS WITH HORSE RACING

With nine fabulous and varied racecourses spread across the county, from Beverley in the east to Wetherby and  Pontefract in the west, Doncaster in the south to Redcar via Ripon, Thirsk and Catterick in the North and with York the jewel in the crown, there is nowhere in Britain to match Yorkshire for horse racing whether it is on the Flat or over jumps.

Add to the mix a multitude of successful trainers and a long list of jockeys, riding at the top of their game, first-class facilities at Jack Berry House, the rehabilitation centre for jockeys and stable staff, and the National Horse racing College, which is the first step for many joining the racing industry and facilitating the ongoing development and progression of those already involved, then it is clear to see why winners come from Yorkshire.

Be part of the winning crowd, when you go racing in Yorkshire.  From championship racing to more relaxed family days and everything in between, there is a race day to suit your mood or occasion.

Go Racing In Yorkshire is the marketing organisation of Yorkshire’s nine racecourses, working with them and independently to promote racing in our great county.

National Racehorse Week

Did you get involved in the first ever National Racehorse Week?

The event was covered extensively in the media and many Yorkshire trainers opened their doors to the public to show them behind the scenes and all the care and attention that the horses receive.

Malton Open Day started the week with 12 yards open and raised an impressive £14,000 for organising charity Racing Welfare. You can read more about the Arc sponsored event here

A glorious sunny day provided the backdrop for celebrations at the Jedd O’Keeffe yard earlier this month as they feasted on delicious pizza following their win of the best turned out yard competition at the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival in July.

The team won the most best turned out horse prizes in the Sky Bet sponsored races, which resulted in the pizza party, courtesy of Sky Bet. The pizzas were supplied by Knead ‘N’ Feed who you may have seen at some of Yorkshire’s courses.

The team are keen to retain the prize next year!

Yorkshire’s Flat Trainer and Jockey Championships

FOUR.jpg        FIVE.jpg

The leading flat trainer and jockey in Yorkshire Championships, sponsored by McClarrons Ltd are a hotly contested affair and with only five weeks left of the turf season, Tim Easterby seems to have run away with the trainers title! Taking the lead after the first few weeks he will be very difficult to beat.

The competition has been closer among the jockeys with Kevin Scott taking the early lead, but it’s no surprise that David Allan, closely associated with Tim’s yard is currently ahead, with previous winner Danny Tudhope his nearest pursuer.
