Catterick's 2018/19 Champion Jockey, Conor O'Farrell, continued his winning ways this Christmas by riding a double across the card on both 28th December and New Year's Day! O'Farrell got off the mark on the 28th December in the Steve 'Pinky' Newland Retirement Novices' Handicap Chase when he partnered the Nigel-Hawke-trained OURO BRANCO to a two and a half-length victory. He secured the double with the Rebecca Menzies-trained TOI STORY, who won by twelve lengths in the last race.

On New Year's Day, O'Farrell's first winner came in the third race aboard SUMMER LIGHTENING for Dianne Sayer and he didn't have to wait long for the double as ISLAND VILLA won the fourth at 22-1 for Rebecca Menzies.

•PINCH OF GINGER Comes Out On Top Of Steward's Enquiry

Racing on 28th December got underway with a ding-dong finish in the Millbry Hill Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Chase. The race looked to have gone the way of the well supported favourite PADDLING, who had been narrowly beaten here in November, as he won out in a dual to the line with staying on PINCH OF GINGER (ridden by Lorcan Murtagh for Donald McCain). A nose separated them at the line but after a suspenseful wait, the stewards deemed that PADDLING had impeded PINCH OF GINGER and reversed the placings.

DECOR IRLANDAIS absolutely hacked up under a super cool ride from Noel McParlan in the Buy Your 2020 Annual Badge Today Novices' Hurdle on Tuesday 17th December. A very smart performance from the Noel Kelly trained gelding.

FRIMEUR DE LANCRAY and Danny Cook both got up okay after the last hurdle fall.
