BHA Disciplinary Panel results of fast-tracked cases (A. Ingman, F. O'Brien)

Published 2020/05/18

Anya Ingman £175 fine - breach of Regulation 45 of Regulations for Point-to-Point Steeple Chases Season 2019-2020 in that following GLORY AND HONOUR (IRE) run in The Open Maiden for 4,5 and 6 year olds at Chaddesley Corbett on 8 February 2020, the horse was selected for post-race sampling.

On 2 March 2020 it was reported that the post-race urine sample taken from GLORY AND HONOUR (IRE) had returned an adverse analytical finding for Omeprazole.

On investigation it was established that GLORY AND HONOUR (IRE) had been administrated GastroGard, which contains Omeprazole, as the horse had gone off its feed and had a dull coat around two weeks before the race.

During the interview Ms Ingman explained that she were uncertain as to when exactly the first administration of GastroGard took place beyond stating that it would have been a couple of weeks before the race at Chaddesley Corbett.

She went on to state that she did not have a withdrawal period in mind when administrating the substance.

As the sample provided by GLORY AND HONOUR (IRE) showed the presence of a Prohibited Substance, the horse will be disqualified from the race at Chaddesley Corbett under Regulation 150.

The fine will be deferred for a period of six months.

Fergal O'Brien £750 fine - breach of Rule (E)12 of the Rules of Racing in that on 8 March 2020 ARCTIC GOLD (IRE) ran in The Elizabeth Jackson Charitable Trust Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) at Warwick, where it was reported by the Veterinary Officer that the horse appeared to be suffering from ringworm.

Scrapings were taken on the day of the race and sent to the Animal Health Trust.

The Animal Health Trust confirmed that the scrapings were positive for ringworm.

The fine will be deferred for a period of six months.
