All-Weather Championships - Burke aiming to bolster Three-Year-Old claims with Kaboo

Burke aiming to bolster Three-Year-Old claims with Kaboo Karl Burke is hoping Kaboo can add another string to his Finals Day bow in the Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Conditions Stakes (3.15pm) at Kempton Park on Monday, January 24, a Fast-Track Qualifier for the £150,000 Coral All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championships.

The Middleham trainer already has the impressive El Caballo qualified for the six-furlong final and Kaboo could be a leading candidate as well judged on a pair of emphatic novice race victories at Wolverhampton and Newcastle.

Kaboo was pitched in the deep end at the start of his two-year-old campaign with three successive runs in Stakes company, including a sixth on debut in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Burke said: “Kaboo looks in great shape. He is stepping up to six furlongs for the first time, which we think he wants, and I think he goes there with a great chance.

“The plan is to take Kaboo and El Caballo to Finals Day. They have different owners and the final fits in well with what we want to do with both.

“I would not think Kaboo would run again between now and the Final if he wins on Monday, whereas El Caballo will probably go to Newcastle on February 23 for a conditions race and then onto the Spring Cup at Lingfield in early March.

” Mick Appleby has an interesting contender in Annaf, who was bought unraced out of Owen Burrows’ stable in October and made a winning debut for connections at Newcastle on January 6.

Mojomaker produced some notable efforts for David Loughnane on turf last year, headed by a fourth in the Listed Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy in October.

The Mehmas colt filled the same spot on his All-Weather debut in a handicap at Southwell on January 16.

The seven runners also include Adaay In Asia for Harry Dunlop and the Sylvester Kirk-trained Resilience, who both have winning form on the All-Weather.

Dual turf winner Straits Of Moyle and once-raced maiden Lord Vader complete the field for Richard Fahey and John Ryan respectively.

About the All-Weather Championships

Season nine of the All-Weather Championships runs from Tuesday, October 19, 2021, and culminates with All-Weather Championships Finals Day on Good Friday, April 15, 2022.

Finals Day will take place at Newcastle for the first time while its previous home Lingfield Park will now stage the All-Weather Vase fixture for horses not rated high enough to run on Finals Day.

The six championship categories are:

Three-Year-Olds sponsored by Coral - 6f Final

Fillies & Mares sponsored by Coral - 7f Final

Mile sponsored by MansionBet - 1m Final

Sprint sponsored by Betway - 6f Final

Marathon sponsored by Betway - 2m Final

Middle Distance sponsored Betway - 10f Final

There are two ways for horses to qualify for one of the finals on All-Weather Championships Finals Day at Newcastle:

* A horse can win a 'Fast-Track Qualifier' race which will ensure a FREE and GUARANTEED place in the corresponding final on Good Friday. There are four Fast-Track Qualifiers in each of the six championship categories hosted at racecourses in Great Britain, Ireland and France. If a filly wins any of the Fast-Track Qualifier races for either the Sprint or the Mile categories, the filly will be qualified for the final of that specific category, or for the Fillies and Mares Final.

or

* A horse must run a minimum of three times on the All-Weather surfaces in Great Britain, Ireland and France; or twice on the All-Weather surfaces in Great Britain, Ireland, France and once on dirt in Dubai or Saudi Arabia during the qualifying period between October 19, 2021 and the six-day entry stage for the finals (Saturday, April 9, 2022) and then be rated high enough to 'make the cut' in a final by order of its BHA Rating.

In addition, prizes will be awarded to each of the All-Weather Champions - the 'All Stars' - based on the number of winners at the end of the All-Weather Championships season:

Champion All-Weather Jockey (winner and runner up)

Champion All-Weather Apprentice Jockey (winner and runner up)

Champion All-Weather Trainer
